Letters from home (OPEN)

Nikki sighed as she leaned against the wall of the owlery, waiting for a particular owl to join the rest on the roosts. She had sent a letter home some days ago, as she always did, and the reply was expected any minute. If she was honest, she was also taking the opportunity to get away from the students that seemed gathered everywhere in the castle. She preferred conversations with only a small group, while large ones put her on edge. Unfortunately, it appeared that the letter from her parents was taking longer than it should be, and no matter how much she glared at the dimming sky, she knew that it would arrive no faster. She had taken an early dinner, slipping out while most of the other students were still eating, which was why she turned quickly as she was startled by the sound of footsteps on the stairs.

Toire sat in the main hall eating and laughing with her friends. She smiled and ran a hand though her hair she had pulled it back into a beautiful braid this night. She then looked around noticing that her younger sister had went off on her own. Getting up Toire smiled and waved goodbye to her friends after telling them she would be back. She then brushed off her dress, smiling she wandered off heading to the owlery figuring that is where her sister would be. Since she knew that the younger girl had sent a letter to their parents. Climbing the steps she smiled seeing her sister there. She leaned against the door frame and smiled at her. "Hey waiting for a letter I take it?"

Nikki kept her gaze on the doorway, waiting for the person to appear. When a familiar blonde showed herself, the expression on Dominique's face changed from one of impatience, to a bright smile. She and her sister were fairly close, their age difference small enough that they were able to share so many things. "Hi Vicky. I thought you were still at dinner?" Nikki said, using the nickname that she had for her older sister. Most called her Toire or Victoire, but Dominique had always called her Vicky since they were small children. "Yeah," she answered, eyes moving back toward the sky for a moment, "mum and daddy should have sent one back by now. The owl seems to be taking its time this evening, though. What are you doing up here?"
